Meet our team: Helen

Helen is a counsellor, who works as one of our support group facilitators for our Mother Nurture and Second Nature groups. She has supported women via the 1-2-1 counselling service in her role as a psychotherapist.

Helen says: "I love working with a wide variety of women, and it feels a privilege to work with women in the midst of the huge life change that is having a child.

"Release has broken down a lot of barriers to accessing supportive environments in the 1-2-1 counselling service, the Mother Nuture and Second Nature groups, and the wellbeing days. These offerings have helped to build supportive communities across Sussex, and opened up vital conversations for hundreds of women. This really aligns with my values, as I believe therapy and therapeutic environments should be available to all.

“I want women to know that they have a right to support for their physical and mental health. All women deserve to be heard and taken seriously, particularly during the very vulnerable time of becoming a parent. You are important, and your experience is worth sharing, so try to allow yourself to lean on friends, families, or services with Release rather than struggling alone. “
