Wellbeing tips for mums and birthing parents

Hattie is one of our counsellors and support facilitators and here she shares her top wellbeing tips for mums and birthing parents.

❤️ Connection

Try to make it along to groups or to meet friends each week, even on the days where you haven’t washed your hair or slept- often those are the times you need people the most and you will not regret making the effort! If you cannot make it out, reach out to friends - I would often be sat laughing at messages from my friends while stuck breastfeeding at home!

❤️ Inspiration

On the days when you are not feeling too sleep-deprived, try to read/watch or learn about things that interest and inspire you, perhaps listen to some podcasts - it can help with the feelings of loss of self that motherhood can bring.

❤️ Nature

Try to get outside whenever you can, even if it is just for a short walk. It can help with feelings of overwhelm and also enable both mum and baby to feel more calm and grounded. If you can’t get outside, just opening the window to get some fresh air can be of benefit.

❤️ Give yourself a break

You are doing a great job and you are all that your baby needs!
